 29th July is the day to celebrate Indian National Animal Tiger, To Spread awareness about Tigers conservation. International Tiger Day started celebrating after the St. Petersburg Summit in 2010. The Agenda behind this step, To promote the global ecosystem for preserving the natural habitats of Tigers, raise public awareness. In 2010 summit, agreed to double the tiger population by 2022.

The Global Tiger Day 2020 slogan is ‘Their Survival is in Our Hands’


Here are some facts about Tigers till now,

* India counts 70% of Tiger Population around the world. Tiger Census was revealed that, nearly 33% hike in the Tiger population.

*According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), 95% of the tiger population has been lost from the beginning of the 20th century.

* There are only 3900 tigers in the wild now in the whole world.

*Major subspecies are the Bengal tiger, South China tiger, Indochinese tiger, Sumatran tiger, and the Siberian tiger are living. 

* Madhya Pradesh(526) accounts highest number od Tigers, Followed by Karnataka(524) at 2nd place in India.

* Tiger Census will be conducted by Union Ministry for Environment, Forest & Climate Change once in every 4 years. The current Union Minister is Prakash Javedkar.
